Maranoa Wildlife Caring & Education Centre relies on volunteers to provide its services.
Being a volunteer for our organisation is a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
For each of our Volunteers the reason is different. Perhaps yours will be :
Dedicated, enthusiastic people with an open mind, who are willing to start learning — and to never stop! Given the time commitment, wildlife caring often suits people who are retired or are part-time workers – although many of our carer’s also have full-time jobs and are able to meet their carer responsibilities.
Wildlife carers must be licensed and trained as it’s illegal to care for native wildlife if you do not have a permit. To find out more about how you can become involved in wildlife care in your area contact your nearest group or the Department. Maranoa residents can apply here (LINK – MWCEC application form) or contact us on 0458 624 760.
We welcome you to get in touch and meet some of our Carers and hear their stories.
Here are some video testimonials of our volunteers about their role.
Our wildlife carers are provided free training prior to commencing their role as a volunteer carer.
Once you have received your training you will have a better understanding of the types of equipment that becomes valuable. Here is a list of some of the common items our carer’s use.
