Baby swans, also known as cygnets, hatch covered in a thick down. They can run and swim just hours after hatching. Cygnets are typically dusky grey all over with a soft, fluffy coat and grey-black bill with small black feet. Their parents remain very protective over them in the early months of their life. Unfortunately, for these little cygnets who came into care on the 12 August 2024, their parents were nowhere in sight. They were picked up on the side of the road on the Warrego Highway, a very busy stretch of road. These Cygnets were with MWCEC for a couple of months before they were transferred to another Wildlife Organisation for release.
