Welcome to the Maranoa Wildlife Caring & Education Centre

Welcome to the Maranoa Wildlife Caring & Education Centre.  Our organisation is a not for profit charitable company run by volunteers.

Our purpose is to provide care for sick, injured and orphaned native animals so they have the best chance of survival when released back into their natural habitat, however we also aim to :

  • Provide training and support to community members so they can become MWCEC Wildlife Carers
  • Educate Community Groups, School Children and the Local Community about natural biodiversity through to production systems
  • Foster a respect for and love of our local fauna in children and young people
  • Promote a healthy and sustainable environment
  • Develop a greater understanding of natural ecosystems, biodiversity hotspots and the ecology of rare, threatened and other native species through ongoing research

We have a team of volunteers who each bring a valuable skill set to our cause.   Our Volunteers predominately provide care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife however we also have volunteers that :

  • support and assist with the coordination and administration of the group
  • help give educational talks at field days and other events
  • members that provide respite care for the wildlife when needed
  • assist, coordinate and run fundraising activities
  • and others who provide soft release sites to give the animals the best chance of survival when migrating back into their natural environment.

If this sounds like you, we welcome you to get in touch and become a Maranoa Wildlife Carer Volunteer.
